The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

If you like a good scary movie around this time of year, like I do, let me recommend this, "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari." It is 1920 silent German Horror film and considered the first film to use expressionism, and surrealist production. Dr. Caligari is also considered the first psychological horror film, and the first movie ever to utilize the twist ending.

Featured on The Duck

I recently started putting Carl and The Lost Shadow 'out there' on various webcomic hosting platforms. The Duck is one of the oldest and the best. They already made it a featured comic, which is a real confidence booster.

Bullet With Butterfly Wings

There have been times in my life where things were going well. Would you believe there have been times in my life I thought through my self taught/amateur art and poor grammar  that I could spread my optism  coinciding with my good fortune? Basically be some half assed Depok Chopra? I had reached some plateau and it was my responsibility to uplift the down trodden? I am an asshole.

Stink Bug

Towards the end of autumn I saw hundreds of stink bugs on buildings. I imagine they were trying to get in before the onset of winter.

Ozzy

Now, to sound like an old man, I used to walk a mile or so everyday to school. Though not uphill. We lived in an okay neighborhood, not the best, not the worst, and my grandma would walk me to school every day. The kids picked on me mercilessly for this. Fortunately another kid moved into the neighborhood, my best friend at the time, and we walked together.

Occupy Infinity Burger

I made Infinity Burger years and years ago. Believe it or not this silly, simple, webcomic  won Best Philosophy Comic, and was nominated for Best Sci-Fi, and Best Humor comic. Really, all it was was an outlet for me to deal with a place I was working at the time. Snog was loosely based on my boss. Delbort was loosely based on me. Some, if not many of the customer exchanges actually happened. Some of the characters were real people, like Mac Mac, and Dave.

White Zombie and John Carpenter's "The Thing" mash-up

I remember going to the video store when I was a kid. I used to be scared by the scary movie video covers and movie posters. One that particularly stood out to me was John Carpenter's "The Thing." Which, if you haven't seen it, it's an amazing movie. It's very similar to Quentin Tarantino's "Hateful Eight", but sci-fi/horror as opposed to a western. "The Thing" is a remake, and I've never seen the original, but I heard it was good as well.

Obscene Cuisine

Back in 2009 I was on Better Connecticut promoting my comic "Obscene Cuisine." I got to cook next to UConn legend, Donny Marshall (Scot Haney was off that day) and broadcasting legend, Kara Sundlun. I gave a shout out to my unborn son and then  wife in the audience. I made Shrimp Puttanesca, which I figured would be a good choice given the 'obscene' origins of it's name.  It's actually one of my favorite pasta dishes, second to Zingarelli.

Danzig, "Stalker Song"

I think Danzig's a deep guy, more than he lets on. Although the "Stalker Song" seems like a horrific story of obsession from a psychotic stalker's perspective, I think the song is a metaphor for depression. Perhaps it's the personification of depression or a depressive episode looming in the shadows waiting to invade your" home." The home is often recognized as a subconscious symbol of ourselves...like our body is a temple. Everything is fine, but if you're prone to these type of things it's always ever present waiting to "slip in", and especially when in a "hole."
